Back to school

The Charter High School for Architecture + Design came to us in need of a website that better reflected the school’s mission and curriculum. Their existing website was over a decade old and lacked the polish and sophistication needed to attract digitally-savvy parents and students.

Clearing out the cobwebs

We began the re-design process with a content inventory and audit of the existing site. Certain portions of the website were incredibly outdated, while others simply were no longer needed. The result was a simpler, more intuitive content structure that would make it easier for parents, students and staff to find the information they need.

Parent-friendly browsing

We spoke with parents at the school and many lamented about navigating CHAD’s desktop-only site on their mobile device. Quite a few anecdotes about hectic mornings were shared. Parents checking for events, school closings and daily updates on an outdated site was causing a lot of frustration. We remedied that with a mobile experience that gave parents quick access to key links and information, all in a more intuitive mobile experience.

60 photos. One day.

Teachers are a busy bunch. So finding a way to capture all 60 staff members, with a single photographer, in a single day was no small task. We coordinated with school officials and designed a whirlwind day with set ups at several natural light locations within the building. We were then given 5 minutes with each teacher during their free period. For the first time, the staff at CHAD had beautiful new headshots for use on the website. And the school day didn’t miss a beat.
